Daniel Alejandro Raydan Cores, Postdoctoral researcher
Daniel Raydan obtained his degree in Chemistry (cum laude) from Simón Bolívar University, Caracas (2016), and a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark (2019), where he specialized in carbohydrate chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Christian Marcus Pedersen. In 2020, he began his PhD at NOVA University of Lisbon under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Maria Manuel Marques (FCT-NOVA) and Dr. Beatriz Royo (ITQB-NOVA), working on sustainable one-pot bimetallic catalysis for the synthesis of biologically relevant N-heterocycles.
Since 2024, Daniel has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) in the innCAT group, under the guidance of Dr. Cyril Godard. His current research, in collaboration with Dr. Jorge Sánchez-Quesada and the international company IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances), focuses on developing and optimizing catalytic pathways for the production of high-value fragrance ingredients.
His broader scientific interests lie in designing efficient and sustainable methodologies for organic transformations, with a particular emphasis on transition metal catalysis applied to selective and environmentally friendly processes.
