Universitat Rovira i Virgili

Dr. Maria Biosca

Dr. Maria Biosca received her B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Rovira i Virgili University in 2013. She then pursued her M.Sc. (2013-2014) and Ph.D. (2014-2018) at the same university under the supervision of Prof. M. Diéguez and Prof. O. Pàmies. Her doctoral research focused on the synthesis of modular ligand libraries for various catalytic processes and the application of DFT calculations to accelerate catalyst optimization. After obtaining her PhD, she joined the research groups of Prof. F. Himo and Prof. K. J. Szabó at Stockholm University where she worked on on the development of organocatalyzed processes for the synthesis of relevant organofluorine molecules combining organic synthesis with DFT calculations. After just over two years, she returned to Tarragona as a Juan de la Cierva-Incorporación postdoctoral researcher, working with the groups of Prof. M. Diéguez and Prof. J. M. Poblet. Since 2025 she has been a Ramón y Cajal researcher in the SMARTCAT group.
